US Attack on Deutsche Bank 'Attempt to Destabilize Global Financial System'
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Asked by L'Obs news magazine if Washington was abusing its power to fine EU firms on its turf, Hollande said: "Yes. That is why I want Europe to have the same power to sanction US groups."

Earlier this week, German lender Deutsche Bank reportedly failed to agree with US regulators a lower settlement amount after a multi-billion fine was imposed on it for allegedly selling risky securities.

"When the [European] Commission goes after Google or digital giants for not paying their taxes in Europe, America gets offended. But it shows no remorse demanding 8 billion from BNP or 5 billion from the Deutsche Bank," Hollande told the weekly.

"That is why I said there could been no agreement on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)," the president stressed as he pointed to the existing imbalances in the EU-US trade.

The latest round of free trade talks between the United States and Europe on the controversial TTIP deal wrapped up last week. German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel ruled out reaching common ground on it before the end of the year.
