"What concerns the exact time, we are not sure at this time, but still we want our agricultural cooperation to widen as soon as possible," Prabowo said after Tuesday's meeting with Deputy Chairperson of the Russian parliament's upper chamber Ilyas Umakhanov.
Matters of practical cooperation in the field of agriculture were discussed by the delegations of both countries.
"There is already a feeling that our meeting is a success. We came here today to meet with Mr. Umakhanov and we are sure that our cooperation [in the agricultural sector] will be on a very high level," Prabowo concluded.
Umakhanov noted at the meeting that the first step in the direction of strengthening cooperation was made by the visit of the Indonesian delegation to Moscow.
Jakarta to Buy Russian Agro Machinery if Price Attractive
Jakarta is looking forward to buy Russian agricultural machinery if the prices are reasonable for the government, Edhy Prabowo told Sputnik.
"Currently, we are trying to mechanize our agricultural sector and in the Soviet times we were using Russian machinery, but now we are using Western and Japanese machinery. At the moment, we have a budget of about $400 million a year to buy machinery for agricultural needs. If the price is right, we are of course ready to buy Russian machinery again," Prabowo said.
In July, Russia’s Deputy Industry and Trade Minister Alexander Morozov stated that in the period from January to June, Russia produced 35 percent more agricultural machinery such as tractors and combine harvesters than in 2015. The production growth was driven by support from the government and the devaluation of the ruble.
