France will establish contacts with the Russian and German leaders for a possible Normandy summit to settle the Ukrainian conflict in Berlin next week, French government spokesman Stephane Le Foll said Wednesday.

PARIS (Sputnik) — Merkel has invited the leaders of the Normandy format to convene in Berlin on October 19, Russian Ambassador to France Alexander Orlov said Tuesday.

"The group of sherpas will prepare for a possible Normandy quartet summit in Berlin. Contacts will be established with Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel today, and with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko tomorrow," Le Foll told reporters following a French cabinet meeting.
