ANKARA (Sputnik) — Russia and Turkey are the states that are countering the plans of the Middle Eastern destabilization, in particular the collapse of Syria’s statehood, an adviser to the Turkish prime minister announced Wednesday.
"The West wants to establish its influence in the Middle East. And those who do not want this to happen are Russia and Turkey. Let’s assume, there are only two countries now that advocate the territorial integrity of Syria — Russia and Turkey," Mehmet Akarca said in a private conversation with journalists.
He added that those, who were behind the creation of the Daesh terrorist group and strove for the fragmentation of the region, were also nurturing negative scenarios for Syria, while Russia and Turkey remained the only states opposing those plans.
