The United Nations has received a negative response from al-Nusra Front militant group regarding an earlier proposal of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura on Aleppo, yet it still hopes it can be implemented, UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy said Thursday.

Johnson Calls Aleppo Anti-Terrorist Airstrikes 'Gross Crime Against Humanity'
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On October 6, de Mistura offered to accompany al-Nusra Front militants if they decided to leave Aleppo with arms and to head for the city of Idlib or somewhere else. According to the UN official, if the military activities in Aleppo continue, the eastern part of the city will be destroyed.

"We have heard from al-Nusra, not surprisingly [we got a] negative response but our understanding is that this particular appeal has found resonance in certain quarters and they are working to make it happen and we hope that this will be the case," Ramzy told a briefing.
