MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are expected to sign 18 documents at the BRICS summit in Goa this week with a focus on nuclear cooperation, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Thursday.
"One of the central themes will be cooperation in the field of nuclear energy," Ushakov told reporters, noting that a total of 18 documents are prepared to be signed in India.
Putin is expected to inaugurate units 3 and 4 of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant during his visit for the October 15-16 BRICS summit, the Kremlin said Tuesday.
Kudankulam's first unit reached full capacity in July 2014 and is currently the most powerful reactor in the country. Its second unit was launched in July, connected to the power grid in August, and is expected to begin commercial operations in December.
