DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — There is no evidence that the terrorists fighting in Syria have sophisticated man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS), Syrian Reconciliation Minister Ali Haidar told Sputnik on Thursday.
"So far there is no evidence that they possess any advanced MANPADS. They may have some old man-portable systems that they have already used to down some aircraft," he said.
Syria's civil war between government forces and a wide range of insurgents, including terrorists, opposition forces, has raged for some five years and has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.
