MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier in the day, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said that the country should again consider the use of military force in Syria to resolve the crisis in the conflict-torn country.
"Why, what for? Perhaps it is necessary to wait until all these moments are clarified. Any country’s efforts to fight terrorism deserve the highest praise, but if these are efforts to fight against the country’s legitimate authorities than it is unlikely to be commendable," Peskov told reporters.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with opposition factions and Islamist terrorist groups such as Daesh and al-Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front, now known as Jabhat Fatah al Sham, fighting the Syrian army. Both organizations are banned in many countries worldwide, including Russia.
