BRICS will not shrink to a three-country format, Brazil's Chair of the BRICS Business Council told Sputnik.

GOA (Sputnik) — BRICS will not turn into a Russia-India-China union as the five-country format remains relevant in boosting collaboration between the emerging economies, Jose Rubens de la Rosa, Brazil's Chair of the BRICS Business Council, told Sputnik.

"I see that the BRICS future is still ahead – the fastest growth will come from the needs that are present at those emerging BRICS economies. I see that the BRICS countries should keep the BRICS [format] as a relevant way to collaborate one to another," Rubens de la Rosa said countering the predictions of analysts that BRICS is slowly taking the form of RIC amid growing concerns over economic stability of South Africa and Brazil.

He added that the BRICS member-states have their own competitive advantages and “could be bigger” if work in collaboration.
