WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama has approved a new directive which will take an “irreversible” step in the engagement between the United States and Cuba, especially in areas of commerce and travel, according to a statement issued by the White House on Friday.
"Today, I approved a Presidential Policy Directive that takes another major step forward in our efforts to normalize relations with Cuba,“ Obama stated. "The Departments of Treasury and Commerce issued further regulatory changes today…to continue to facilitate more interaction between the Cuban and American people, including through travel and commercial opportunities, and more access to information.”
