MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Pakistan’s upper chamber of parliament adopted on Friday a resolution vowing to resist any possible Indian aggression and calling on the United Nations to investigate the attack on the Indian army base in Uri.
"[The Senate] urges the United Nations to hold independent inquiry into the 'Uri incident' to take it to its logical conclusion… [The Senate] resolves that if the Indian government dares to embark on any military adventure against Pakistan, the people, the Government and the armed Forces of Pakistan will stand united as one to face and defeat any form of aggression with all the might of their command," the resolution said.
Kashmir has been disputed between India and Pakistan since partition of India in 1947. The two countries have gone through three wars over the region, but the conflict has not been resolved. The recent escalation is initially connected with the killing of Burhan Wani, the leader of a Kashmiri separatist group, outlawed in India, by Indian security forces in July.
