NEW YORK (Sputnik) — Office of the New York City Comptroller Scott M. Stringer said on Friday it was unable to find any contributions from Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy.
"My office has reviewed the donations made in the nearly 12 months following the attacks – and we didn’t find evidence that he [Trump] contributed a single cent to the victims, our first responders, and to our city through the Twin Towers Fund," Stringer said in a statement to ABC News.
The comptroller's office began the investigation after requests coming from multiple news agencies.
Shortly after the 2001 attacks, Trump had promised to make a $10,000 contribution to the Twin Towers Fund as part of charity efforts, according to media reports.
