MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia supports India as another permanent member of the UN Security Council that needs reforming for its work to be more effective, a joint statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Saturday.
"India and Russia called for comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council to make it more effective and representative of the contemporary geo-political realities. Russia reaffirmed its support for India's candidature for a permanent membership of a reformed and expanded UN Security Council, " the joint statement issued after Putin and Modi's bilateral meeting at the BRICS Goa summit reads.
