GOA (Sputnik) – Russia will react to information regarding the possibility of US allegedly retaliatory cyberattacks, Russia's presidential aide Yury Ushakov said Saturday on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.
"Evidently, we will [react], of course… Especially given specific figures from Russian government were mentioned," Ushakov said, commenting on Russia's possible reaction.
Ushakov added that he considered the US messages to be borderline openly rude.
Earlier in the day, US Vice President Joe Biden said that the United Stated intended to respond to hacking attacks allegedly conducted by Russia.
US officials alleged in a statement last week that Russia was behind intrusions into political party websites and state election systems, as well as the disclosure of information to DCLeaks.com, WikiLeaks and Guccifer 2.0.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that threats of retaliation against Russia were bewildering, and that Moscow had not received an official accusation from Washington.
