"Our journalists have been working under tremendous pressure from the day one. We work with many foreigners since we broadcast in several languages, and they are being summoned to the embassies, questioned, threatened, exerted pressure on, deported, arrested, detained. This has began a long time ago, it goes on and will keep going. This is the job and when people get down to this job they realize what to expect. The journalists are used to it. We will keep up working if got deported we would come back," Simonyan said answering the question how journalists would work following the resolution.

In March, Latvian authorities blocked Sputnik news agency and banned its website. Also in March, the Swedish Security Service (Sapo) accused Russia of conducting "psychological war" against Sweden aimed at manipulating the public opinion with the use of Sputnik news agency and RT broadcaster.

RT operates a number of cable and satellite television channels in a number of languages and is directed at foreign audience. The channels provide 24-hour news coverage, as well as airing documentaries, talk shows and debates.

It broadcasts through its websites in over 30 languages, as well as on analogue and digital radio, mobile apps and social media.
