MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Times newspaper reported, citing sources from the UK Ministry of Defense, that the proposed sharp fall of the pound after Brexit would force UK authorities to postpone or cancel the projects that were not booked, that is why the ministry wanted to execute the deal in a short time. The purchase reportedly comprises 800 combat vehicles.
The proposed deal deprives potential producers of an opportunity to compete for the tender, including one UK company, the newspaper said. The sources from the Defense Ministry also told the Times that otherwise the deal could worth one billion pounds less, and would create a few hundreds of jobs.
