ALEPPO (Sputnik) — Militants shelled central Aleppo with mortars on Sunday killing two civilians and wounding another 20, a source in the local hospital told RIA Novosti.
"Militants shelled Hamidiyeh and Said districts in the morning. Two women were killed on site, some 20 people arrived with shrapnel wounds," the source said.
In the past month, Aleppo has been a battlefield between Syrian government forces, jihadists and numerous opposition groups. Fighting in the city intensified after the Syrian army declared an end to the week-long ceasefire on September 23, as it blamed militants for violations that made the ceasefire unreasonable.
