BERLIN (Sputnik) — The Ukrainian presidential website announced earlier that the Normandy meeting would take place as scheduled earlier on October 19 in Berlin, notably omitting Russian President Vladimir Putin's attendance.
"Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to hold a meeting of heads of state and government in the so-called Normandy format," Seibert said in a statement obtained by RIA Novosti.
He said Merkel had invited her three counterparts to Berlin on Wednesday to evaluate the progress of implementing the Minsk agreements and discuss further steps.
