MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The UK bank that blocked the RT broadcaster's accounts may have acted on orders from above, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday.
"It is clear as day that it was not the bank that made the decision, neither this nor any other bank. No bank can make these decisions on their own," Lavrov said at a briefing.
RT's Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan said Monday the broadcaster's accounts had been blocked in the United Kingdom. RT UK said it has been informed by the National Westminster Bank that banking arrangements with the broadcaster are null and void.
"The situation is quite clear. I think we need to remember the old wisdom that goes something like this: never treat others the way you would not want them to treat you," Lavrov stressed.
