MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, the European Union accused the Syrian government and Russia of deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure in Syria's eastern Aleppo, as well as using banned weapons, which could amount to a war crime.
"Syria watched disparagingly the statement issued by the European Union foreign ministers, and that Syria believes that misguiding public opinion and twisting fact isn’t becoming of some EU states which expressed more than once and on several occasions the ineffectiveness of the course followed by the EU regarding Syria," the source told the SANA news agency.
Aleppo has been engulfed in a heavy fighting since the government forces began a major offensive on the rebel-held eastern districts of the city following the collapse of the ceasefire brokered by Russia and the United States in early September.
