MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to media reports, the court issued a warrant to detain Nujaifi, who is also the head of Nineveh Guards, a unit, which is trained by the Turkish troops in Iraq’s town of Bashiqa.
The media outlet added that the court's decision was made following the collection of evidences and files concerning the issue on the grounds of Nujaifi's assistance to a foreign state and facilitation to the entry of the Turkish forces to the Iraqi territory.
On December 4, Turkey deployed about 150 troops and 25 tanks to northern Iraq reportedly to help national forces to reclaim the city of Mosul from Daesh. On October 4, the Iraqi parliament adopted a resolution voicing a protest against Turkish military presence in Bashiqa.
Earlier in the month, media reported that the Turkish-trained troops, including the ones from Nineveh Guards were involved in the operation to drive Daesh militants from Mosul.
