BERN (Sputnik) — Comte, who presides over the upper-house Council of States, said that economic cooperation between Switzerland and Russia depended on a positive outcome of the Ukrainian conflict.
"Despite our differences, I hope the dialogue that was halted due to the conflict will be renewed for us to have a chance of finding consensus that would make it a win-win for all," Comte said at an economic forum in Bern.
The outbreak of a war in Ukraine in early 2014 strained relations between Russia and Europe. Switzerland did not join EU sanctions on Russia but said it would prevent any attempts to bypass them.
