WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States and South Korea are working on enhancing cooperation of the two countries’ navies and boosting work in cyber domain, US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said in a joint press conference with his South Korean counterpart on Thursday.
"We are examining ways that our two navies can better cooperate on maritime security. We are also that the US-ROK [Republic of Korea] cyber cooperation working group is helping to synchronize and enhance cyber efforts within out alliance," Carter stated.
Carter also added that the United States condemns an unsuccessful missile launch by North Korea on Wednesday night.
"We strongly condemn last night’s attempt, which even in failing violated several UN Security Council resolutions," Carter stated on Thursday. "This latest provocation only strengthens our resolve to work together with our Republic of Korea allies to main stability on the peninsula."
