MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Latvia's State Border Guards detained Ella Taranova, who arrived in Riga to participate in the "Baltic Forum," and started preparations for her expulsion from the country. According to Aleksander Vasilyev, the executive director of the forum, Taranova had been blacklisted by the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
"Once again we have to point out at a grave breach of the Russian journalist’s rights," the ministry said in a statement.
According to the ministry, the presence of black lists of journalists for their professional position is inappropriate in a democratic state and contradicts all the international commitments ensuring freedom of expression.
