Egypt Appeals to Russia for Supplies of Helicopters for Mistral Ships
WARSAW (Sputnik) — The warships were built for the Russian Navy and sold to Egypt last year after Paris refused to deliver the ships to Russia over its alleged role in the Ukraine war and Crimea’s secession.

Speaking in the Polish parliament, Macierewicz declared that Egypt "has recently handed them over to Russia for a dollar." He assured reporters his source was a "very good" one and the information was "reliable."

The second ship arrived in the Egyptian port of Alexandria earlier this month. Moscow has been in talks with Cairo to supply it with Russian-made helicopters for the Mistrals.

Macierewicz’s claim came amid an ongoing row between the Polish government and France’s Airbus over the failed sale of French Caracal helicopters.
