KRASNOYARSK (Sputnik) — "We are holding talks with Japan on the supplies of MOX fuel," Igor Merkulov said at a press conference.
He did not specify whether any agreements had been reached with the Japanese side.
In 2015, the GKhK officially started the production of MOX granules and pelletized MOX fuel assemblies for the BN-800 reactor, operating at the fourth power unit of Russian Beloyarsk nuclear power plant.
At the moment some Japanese nuclear power plants receive MOX fuel from French company Areva.
