MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Latvia's State Border Guards detained Ella Taranova, who arrived in Riga to participate in the "Baltic Forum," and started preparations for her expulsion from the country. According to Aleksander Vasilyev, who is the executive director of the forum, Taranova had been blacklisted by the Latvian Foreign Ministry.
"It is an outrageous situation," Simonyan said on her Twitter account, commenting the activities of Latvian authorities in regard to Taranova.
The "Baltic Forum" is an international conference held since 1998. In 2016, the forum will be held in Latvia's Jurmala and will gather together officials, experts and political scientists from Latvia, Russia, the United States, China, Finland and Lithuania.
