RIYADH (Sputnik) – Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak will participate in the dinner, gathering the energy ministers of the six member states of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (CCASG), also known as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Russian embassy in Saudi Arabia said Sunday.
"Russian minister and ministers of the [Gulf Cooperation] Council's [member] states are scheduled to have a dinner," the embassy told RIA Novosti.
The GCC is a powerful economic and military alliance of the Middle East nations – Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Riyadh hosts the headquarter of the GCC, chaired by Qatar.
Novak arrived in Saudi Arabia on a two-day visit to meet his Saudi counterpart Khalid al-Falih to discuss relations between the two nations, as well as cooperation with the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) amid current situation in the oil market.
Earlier during the visit, the Russian delegation visited the state-backed oil company Saudi Aramco and discussed the prospects for technological cooperation.
