On Monday morning, Filya the camel was seen wandering the streets of Kazan, peacefully eating grass. Tired from the boredom of living in captivity, the exotic 700 kg animal broke the fence of the house where it was being kept, and went for a walk in the metropolis of over 1,140,000 people.
Local police helped the double-humped stroller find his way home. The camel's keeper, Elena Bushueva, told Life.ru that Filya had previously worked in a circus for 1.5 years but retired due to his age and bad health.
Because of health problems affecting his front legs, poor Filya could have been butchered by his previous owners, Elena revealed. Now, the camel lives safe and sound in the private shelter along with other animals.
