MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – The legislature has unveiled conclusions of Sunday’s session where it agreed to "initiate a process to determine the constitutional situation around the Republic's presidency and convene a special National Assembly session on October 25 to assess it and make a decision."
Julio Borges, an opposition lawmaker, described the government’s decision to block a recall referendum against the president as a "coup."
A petition to gather signatures for the recall was halted last week over alleged irregularities. The opposition wants the referendum to be held before next January 10 to avoid Vice President Jorge Arreaza succeeding Maduro.
