US Pledges Cooperation With African Union Partners Following Terror Attacks
21:04 GMT 25.10.2016 (Updated: 10:57 GMT 26.10.2022) The United States will continue to work with its partners in the region to defeat terrorism following recent attacks claimed by al-Shabaab in Kenya and Somalia, National Security Council spokesperson Ned Price said in a press release.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The terrorist group al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for three attacks in Kenya and Somalia over the last 24 hours.

25 October 2016, 06:33 GMT
Earlier in the day, armed assailants killed at least ten hotel guests and a caretaker in the Mandera region of northeast Kenya.
"We will continue to work in partnership with regional governments and AMISOM [African Union Mission in Somalia] to deliver a lasting defeat to terrorist groups that seek to undermine regional stability," Price stated on Tuesday.

5 October 2016, 23:54 GMT
Later, the group claimed responsibility for the suicide truck bombing of an AMISOM base in the Somali town of Beledweyne that killed a number of Djiboutian soldiers.
An al-Shabaab spokesperson said the group was also behind the shooting death of a Somali intelligence officer killed Monday as he walked to a mosque in the capital Mogadishu.
United Nations and African Union as well as UN-backed troops have forced al-Shabaab from much of its territory in Somalia but the al-Qaeda affiliated group continues to carry out suicide attacks against civilians in Somalia and neighboring Kenya.
