Russia has withdrawn its request to Spain for entry of a group of its warships, heading to Syria, for refueling.

A group of Russian warships headed by the aircraft-carrying cruiser Admiral Kuznetsov is currently sailing to the Mediterranean Sea. The naval group was expected to come to Ceuta to take in supplies and to refuel. NATO officials have already
expressed concerns that the group could be used to support Damascus in the ongoing Syrian civil war.
