MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Monday, French authorities began dismantling the Calais camp, relocating its inhabitants to facilities across the country and to the United Kingdom, when it comes to some minors. On Wednesday, Calais Prefect Fabienne Buccio said that all migrants had been cleared from the camp.
According to the Europe 1 radio station, a huge portion of migrants is making their way to Calais from Germany, with a prospective goal of crossing the Channel Tunnel in order to reach the United Kingdom.
The migrants would try to reach the United Kingdom "today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow," one of the migrants was quoted by the broadcaster as saying.
Since 2015, Calais has been the home to a large migrant camp, notorious for its horrible living conditions. Thousands of migrants have been trying to cross into the United Kingdom via the Channel Tunnel between Folkestone in Britain and Coquelles in Calais.
