WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson and Time Warner CEO Robert Marcus will testify in front of the panel, according to the release.
"The hearing will be held on Dec. 7, at 10 a.m. in the Judiciary Committee hearing room," the release stated.
On Friday, AT&T announced plans to acquire Time Warner for $84.5 billion. The deal would include Timer Warner’s popular brands HBO and CNN, and force other distributors to negotiate with AT&T for programming licenses.
Senator Bernie Sanders said in a letter to Acting Assistant US Attorney General Renata Hesse on Wednesday that the proposed merger would concentrate too much power in one media company and should be blocked by regulators.
