20:38 GMT 28.10.2016 (Updated: 21:09 GMT 28.10.2016) The European Council agreed to sign a beleaguered EU-Canada trade deal hours after a regional Belgian parliament broke a federal impasse by voting to pass the deal, the council said in a statement Friday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The adopted package includes decisions on signing the agreement, on its provisional application, and to request the consent of the European Parliament for the conclusion of the agreement, the council added.

"On 28 October 2016, the Council adopted by written procedure a package of decisions on the comprehensive economic and trade agreement with Canada (CETA)," the EU Council said.
