MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov on Friday expressed concerns to Japanese Ambassador Toehisa Kodzuki over Tokyo's participation in the US missile defense deployment in the Asia Pacific region, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"On October 28, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov held a meeting with the Japanese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia… The issues of deployment of a segment of the US global missile defense system in the Asia Pacific region was on the agenda. The Russian deputy defense minister expressed concerns of the Russian side in relation to Tokyo's participation in the process," the statement said.
The statement added that the two sides exchanged their views on the prospects of bilateral military cooperation and noted positive developments in bilateral relations in 2016.
