MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The FBI is still holding talks with the Department of Justice about getting the warrant that would allow the FBI to read recently discovered emails and to reveal whether they contain any classified information, the Yahoo News media outlet reported citing its sources.
"We do not have a warrant … Discussions are under way [between the FBI and the Justice Department] as to the best way to move forward," a senior law enforcement official told Yahoo News.
On Friday, FBI Director James Comey told members of the US Congress in a letter that the bureau has found additional emails relevant to its investigation into Clinton’s use, as secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, of a private email server. FBI investigators will determine whether the newly uncovered emails contain classified information, Comey wrote.
Clinton has been criticized for using the private server and email account for official business during her tenure as the United States' top diplomat. In July, Comey described Clinton’s conduct as extremely careless but said it did not warrant criminal charges.
