“In connection with reports of US online media about measures that are being allegedly prepared as a response to the US anti-Russia sanctions – restrictions on supplies of Uranium products to US companies, the Rosatom state corporation says with all responsibility that the Russian party is not considering any restrictions on uranium products supplies to the US market,” Komarov said, as quoted by the Rosatom’s statement.
Rosatom has already begun developing technologies for eliminating minor actinides. In 2015, a Rosatom institute created a fuel tablet made of uranium, plutonium, neptunium, americium and curium nitrides. The tablets can form heat-generating elements which can then be used in heating reactors to transmutate minor actinides. Scientists expect to assemble the first such reactor in 2016.
