“The embassy communicated with spokespersons of the Civil Defense service, who said that now there are no reports about Russian citizens in the hit areas. If such information emerges, we will immediately share it. We have been in a permanent contact with the Civil Defense service since Wednesday, when the first powerful tremor occurred,” Gurin told RIA Novosti.
Earlier on Sunday, eight over 4.0-magnitude earthquakes hit central Italy, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The most powerful 6.5-magnitude tremor was registered at 06:41 GMT. The epicenter of the earthquake laid 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) deep between the cities of Perugia and Macerata. Seven other powerful tremors including those with 4.6 and 4.8 magnitude followed the major earthquake.
