Belgian FM Signs CETA After Deal Almost Collapsed Due to Wallonia's Opposition

After a tumultuous week when the EU and Belgian officials attempted to wrangle the consent from Wallonia, a Francophone region of Belgium, whose resistance to the deal lead to the cancellation of the original signing ceremony slated for October 27, Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders finally signed the agreement on Saturday.

The new signing ceremony is set to take place at the rescheduled EU-Canada summit on Sunday.
