MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The results from all 32 stations at Zurabishvili's electoral district show that she received 67.58 percent of the votes, leaving behind the United National Movement candidate, according to the CEC.
Zurabishvili was an independent candidate in the only electoral district in this round of the elections, where the Georgian Dream Party, predicted to win the elections, did not have a nominee.
The second round of voting took place on Sunday in 50 out of 73 single-mandate electoral districts, where none of the candidates managed to gain over 50% of votes after the first round on October 8, thus failing to establish the winner. The citizens in the majority of electoral districts were choosing between the candidates from the Georgian Dream Party and the Georgian ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili's United National Movement.
Zurabishvili was invited by Saakashvili, who was the president at the time, to head the country's foreign ministry in 2004 and let go in 2005 following the barrage of criticism from various Georgian politicians.
