"I ask to carry out preparations to ensure the fulfillment of our common goal of holding a successful summit" Seko, also Japan’s minister for economic cooperation with Russia, stated at a conference on the development of economic cooperation with Russia, as quoted by Kyodo News.
In September, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took part in the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia's Vladivostok, during which he held three-hour talks with Putin. One of the outcomes of the meeting was the announcement of Putin's visit to Japan on December 15, which had been postponed from 2014. Ahead of Putin's visit to Japan, the leaders are expected to meet at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru in November.
Seko is due to visit Moscow in November. Putin's visit to Japan will kick off on December 15 in Nagato, Yamaguchi Prefecture, which is the home constituency of the Japanese prime minister. There are reports that the second part of the visit may take place in Tokyo.
