MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A Scottish member of parliament announced on Monday formation of a new UK parliamentary group to address the human rights violations in the Gulf region, a press release by the International Campaign for Freedom in the United Arab Emirates (ICFUAE) said.
"The new parliamentary group will address the increasing concerns around the human rights violations in the UAE and other Gulf countries," the press release said.
Margaret Ferrier, member of the Scottish National Party, will chair the new committee called All Party Parliamentary Group on Democracy and Human Rights in the Gulf.
According to the press release, the UAE authorities have been violating the rights to freedom of expression, fair trial and freedom from torture since 2011.
