MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The orbital height of the International Space Station was increased by 2.45 kilometers (about 1.5 miles), the Russian Mission Control Center said on Wednesday.

"The correction was carried out with an engine of the Zvezda service module. The maneuver of increasing the orbital height started at 6:22 a.m. Moscow time (03:22 GMT), lasted 96 seconds and was successfully completed. As a result the ISS medium orbital height was increased by about 2.45 kilometers and now amounts to 406.1 kilometers," a spokesperson of the Russian Mission Control Center told RIA Novosti.

The maneuver was carried out as part of preparations for docking the Soyuz MS-03 manned spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS). The Soyuz MS-03 is going to be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on November 17.
