WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Asked whether the State Department was coordinating with the Clinton campaign on messaging, Kirby said, “No.”
Kirby claimed, however, that it is not unusual to reach out to former State Department personnel to ensure the accuracy of press statements.
On Friday, FBI Director James Comey told US lawmakers that the bureau had found additional correspondence relevant to its probe into Clinton’s use of a non-government email server and devices.
Kirby noted at the briefing the FBI has not been in contact with Department of State officials in connection with the new investigation.
The bureau had found 650,000 emails on an unsecured laptop computer of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin. The aide had shared the laptop with her estranged husband Anthony Weiner, himself under investigation for sending sexual materials to underage girls.
