DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — According to the SANA news agency, dozens of Daesh militants were killed by the army in the Deir ez-Zor province. The army also targeted a number of Daesh dens and destroyed arms and ammunition stored there, the media reported.
Several terrorists were also killed during Damascus forces' operations in the Latakia province.
The so-called Arab Spring protests in Syria that took place in 2011 resulted in clashes between the government forces and opposition. Since then, the Middle Eastern country has been mired in a war between authorities in Damascus, numerous opposition factions, as well as terrorist groups, including Daesh and Jabhat Fatah al Sham, which are prohibited in many countries, including Russia.
