MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The aides of Hillary Clinton were planning to rescue her close confidante and former chief of staff Huma Abedin from her husband, former US Congressman Anthony Weiner, the new WikiLeaks email disclosure reveals.
"Bust in that house and get Huma the hell out of there," Jennifer Palmieri, who is currently the communications director of the Clinton campaign, wrote in a 2011 email to John Podesta (now Clinton’s campaign chairman) and Neera Tanden, who worked for Clinton’s 2008 campaign.
The June 2011 plan to get Huma away from her husband came amid a scandal over inappropriate photos that Weiner allegedly sent to women over the internet.
WikiLeaks unlocked for the second time on Thursday its trove of sensitive emails from the account of Podesta. The new leak is devoted to the US Department of Justice, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Abedin.
Former US diplomat and adviser to Senate Republican leaders Jim Jatras told Sputnik earlier this month that Abedin contributed to the disastrous US policies on the Middle East that fanned the spread of radical Islam.
Abedin is widely expected to serve as Clinton’s chief of staff in the White House if the Democratic presidential nominee wins the election next Tuesday.
Abedin’s estranged husband kept a stash of 650,000 emails — some of which Clinton related — on his personal laptop that were discovered by FBI agents investigating his sex texts to a 15-year-old girl.
