BISHKEK (Sputnik) – The accident occurred on Friday evening, when a large truck crashed into three cars because of a break malfunction.
"There were five passengers in the BMW, four of them died, one was injured. In the Honda car there were eight people, six of them were injured. Two passengers from the Subaru survived. There were two people in the truck, they received minor injuries," the Kyrgyz Emergencies Ministry said in a statement.
Traffic through the tunnel was temporarily suspended on Friday, but has since resumed.
