WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Department of Defense is aware of the reports that two US military trainers have been killed in a shoot out at the gate of an airbase near Amman, Jordan, and is probing the incident, the department’s spokesperson Mark Wright told Sputnik on Friday.
"We're aware of the reports and are looking into them," Wright stated.
The incident reportedly took place at the Prince Faisal Airbase when trainers' vehicle failed to stop at the gate. The two individuals died in an exchange of gunfire, according to Jordanian media reports.
The airbase officer who started shooting at the US trainers sustained a bullet injury to his neck, reports added.
