MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On October 24, media reported that Choi Soon-sil, a friend and "shadow adviser" of the president, allegedly received drafts of speeches and presidential documents, which could contain confidential information, though she had never held a public post. The revelation caused a massive anti-government protest in the country, with people calling on the president to step down.

The recent survey revealed Park’s rating crashed 12 percentage points from last week, while the number of disapproving her presidency reached 89 percent, Yonhap news agency reported.

Park's rating among the young respondents under 30 years old is estimated at 1 percent, in comparison to 13 percent of respondents aged 60 and above approving of president’s performance.

Park is also suspected of involvement in raising funds for two nonprofit foundations dedicated to promotion of South Korean culture and sports, while president’s associate Choi is suspected of money misappropriation from these foundations.

According to reports, the scandals were the main cause of plunging Park's support rate. The president's political opponents have called for parliamentary investigations, reshuffle of personnel at the Blue House, and her resignation.
